KANO – The Emir of Gaya, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdukkadir, has died at the age of 91.
The death was announced by Alhaji Abbas Ibrahim-Gaya, the Chairman, Media, in the Emirate Council on Wednesday.
Ibrahim-Gaya said that the Emir died after a brief illness. He is survived by three wives, 28 children and many grandchildren.
According to Ibrahim-Gaya, the funeral prayer of the late emir will be conducted at 4 p.m. in the palace.
Stallion Times reports that Gaya is one of the four newly-created emirates by Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje.
