PERL is working with Jigawa education Partners (JEP) to address blockages hindering girl child education in Jigawa state through the community partnership established in the three pilot local government areas (Buji, Kirikasamma and Suletankarkar).

One of the community representatives from Kirikasamma Muhammad Jarma, stated this during a-two days action plan development workshop on “Addressing Blockages Hindering Girl Child Education” organized by PERL FCDO, in Dutse, on Tuesday.

PERL is Partnership to Engage, Reform and Learn, a Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) program.

The objectives of the workshop include to prioritize three barriers hindering girl child education, to develop and agree on strategies that will address they barriers and to agree on timeline and next steps.

Jarma commended PERL in their efforts towards ensuring that girls remain in school and complete their education across Jigawa state.

He said with the technical assistance from PERL, I now understand the major problems that makes the girl child to abstain from school.

”I am glad and commend what PERL is doing in Jigawa state, particularly with the girl child education,” he added.

Some of the hinderances identified by participants are poverty, ignorance, bad cultural practices and inadequate teachers.
