At least 13 people were confirmed dead as a result of building collapse and motor accident in Ringim and Garki local governments areas of Jigawa state.
Three children from the family of Garba Lawan of Yakatasawa village, Ringim local government were reported dead in a building collapse which happened as a result of torrential rainfall.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson, Jigawa State Police Command, ASP Lawan Shisu Adam said: “In the early hours of Tuesday morning, Malam Garba noticed the collapsed of one of his mud rooms in his house where his three children sleeping.
“Immediately he checked on them and found all of them were trapped under the debris.
“Police received the report and rushed to the scene and in collaboration with the community members, the debris where removed and the victims were rushed to Ringim General Hospital where they were all confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
“The decease are; Naima Garba, 14yrs, Umar Garba, 12yrs and Sale Garba 8yrs all of the same family,” ASP Shisu revealed.
In another unfortunate incident, 10 people were reported died as a result of ghastly motor accident that occurred at Dadin Duniya village of Garki local government area of the state.
An eye witness Ibrahim Shehu confirmed to Stallion Times that the accident which involved Honda model UK and Gulf wagon happened as a result of overtaking which resulted to head-on- collision.
The eye witness revealed that Honda UK, a private car was from Garki on its way to Kano while the Gulf wagon, a commercial car was on its way from Kano to Gumel when the accident occurred.
According to the Information officer of Garki local government, among those who died in the accident are Malam Abdullahi, a lecturer with department of Biological Science Bayero University, Kano and the official Driver of Garki local government Chairman, Malam Nasiru Yusif.
