Jigawa state Police has arrested 19 suspected kidnappers in connection to the recent abduction of Alhaji Kabiru Ahmad of Taura local government area.
The Commands spokesperson, SP Lawan Shisu Adam revealed this while fielding question from newsmen.
He said, following the report of the abduction on 4th September 2021, the Police intensified efforts to rescue the victim and also arrested some suspects.
“The police raised a joint team of Policemen, Vigilante groups, Yan bulalaliya (local hunters) and conducted operation around hideout of the suspected kidnappers at Galaga village of Ringim and three suspects were arrested.
“Similar operation was also conducted around Fagen Gawo forest and 16 suspected kidnappers were also arrested there.”
He explained that, the Police are currently interrogating the suspects to get more information that can lead to the arrest of other fleeing suspects.
He added that after completing the investigation the suspects will be charged to court.
SP Shisu however revealed that, the Command will continue with the joint operation until all suspected criminals a fished-out.
Recall that gunmen suspected to bandits stormed Sabon-gari Taura, Taura local government area of Jigawa state on motorcycles and hi-lux vans, kidnapped a traditional ruler (Walin Taura) Alhaji Kabiru Ahmad last Friday night.
