Gunmen suspected to be bandits stormed Sabon-gari Taura, Taura of Taura local government area of Jigawa state on motorcycles and hi-lux vans, Kidnapped a traditional ruler (Walin Taura) Alhaji Kabiru Ahmad on Friday night.
The Bandit went around the residential area of the 60-year-old traditional leader, shooting sporadically at anything on sight before they took away Alhaji Kabiru Muhammad.
A resident and a neighbor of Walin Taura, told Stallion Times that “far into the night, at about 1:30am we were sleeping and suddenly we heard heavy sounds of motorcycles from every angle with gun shots.
“The gunmen, positioned at strategic locations told residents and private security men (Mai gadi) not to move; they shot freely into the air, nobody was killed or injured,” he said.
Police spokesperson, Jigawa state Command, ASP Lawan Shisu Adam confirmed the incident and said the bandits also burnt Police patrol vehicle when they were trying to rescue the victim.
