NPFL Final Day: Kano Pillars Missed Continental Ticket

Kano Pillars Football club failed to clinch continental ticket at the end of 2020/2021 Nigeria professional football league, Thursday.

Sai masu gida missed the ticket after a lone goal defeat by Heartland football club in match day 38 which is the last game of the season at Dan Anyim Stadium Owerri, Imo State.

Heartland football club scored the only goal through its striker chimezie Kingsley in the match at sixteen minutes of play.

All efforts by Kano Pillars Football Club players to equalize and scored the winning goal in the encounter proved abortive.

With the result, Kano Pillars ended the season in six position with sixty-four points in 38 matches of the season.

In his post-match interview, Acting Technical Adviser of the Sai masu gida, Ibrahim A. Musa thanked Almighty Allah for a hitch free season.

Coach Ibrahim expressed dismay for failing to secure the continental ticket which is unusual to the club in every season.

He said the team tried considering that they played all their matches home away from home and now they would go back and study their mistakes ahead of the coming 2021/2022 season.

“We faced a lot of challenges in the just concluded season internally and externally which includes poor goal scoring ability, tactical discipline and interference from some forces,” Coach Ibrahim said.

Coach Ibrahim thanked government, Management of the Club, good people of Kano state, fans of the club, media and all those who contributed in one way or the other to the club during the concluded season.

He said part of the club restructuring in the next season, all hands of the club family must be put together to correct the mistakes they encounter in the just concluded season.

Let me tell you, “we the technical crew, we have our problem likewise other departments has theirs and there is need for certain things be done before the commencement of the next session, he emphasized.

He commended the league management company and the Nigeria referee’s association and NFF referees appointed committee for successful season.

On his part, Chairman of the club, Alhaji Surajo Shaaibu Yahaya Jambul commended Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Commissioner of Youths and Sports and Chairman Kano State Sports Commissioner, Comrade Kabiru Ado Lakwaya and Ibrahim Galadima and all fans of the club for their untiring support to the team throughout the season.
