FCDO to Inject £90 Million into Jigawa Development Plan

United Kingdom through its Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO) will inject over Ninety Million Pound in to Jigawa state Comprehensive Development Framework in the next five years.

The Development Director of UK Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO Nigeria), Dr Christopher Pyco revealed this while fielding questions form newsmen shortly after signing a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for partnership with the Jigawa state government.

He said, the partnership will focus in assisting Jigawa state to strengthen its system for effective public service delivery in the area of Health, Education, Climate Change, and accountability.

Dr Christopher added that, UK had enjoyed good partnership with Jigawa state in the last 20 years and the new partnership will commenced by assisting the state to review its Comprehensive Development Framework (CDF) and they will keep evaluating its implementation after every six months.

Speaking after he signed the MOU at Dutse Government house, Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar commended UK for its concern and indefatigable support to Jigawa in the implementation of various programs particularly in the areas of governance reforms, human development and economic growth.

“I am happy to say that these have continued to impact positively on the socio-economic development of Jigawa State and wellbeing of its people. Since 2008, Jigawa State has ranked 1st in the independent national assessment conducted by Civil Resources Development and Documentation Center in Nigeria (CIRDOC-Nigeria) supported by UK-Aid and other development partners

He said the new roadmap will help Jigawa to enhance the wellbeing of its people through effective implementation of the designed Comprehensive Development Framework and other interventions.

“As a roadmap we intend to make the progress consultative and inclusive to ensure that it responds to the yearnings and aspirations of the People of Jigawa State as well as addresses our current challenges and priorities.”

“A plan for constant evaluation of the Framework work would certainly help in making any needful correction in time to deliver good to the people” Badaru decided

Governor Badaru than assured FCDO the full commitment of his government for the implementation of the MoU to achieve the desire goals.
