Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto state has lost yet another commissioner, the fourth to die in active service in the first and second tenure of his administration.
Other commissioners who died in active service in the present administration include late honourable Nasiru Zarummai, former Commissioner for science and Technology, late honourable Mukhtar Gatawa, former commissioner for lands and housing, late honourable Abdulkadir Jeli Abubkakar, former commissioner for home affairs and the present one, late honourable Muhammadu Arzika Tureta, the former commissioner for Agriculture.
Honourable Muhammadu Arzika Tureta, the state commissioner for agriculture died yesterday at Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital Sokoto after a protracted illness at the age of 62.
Until his death, late former commissioner Muhammadu Arzika Tureta was a strong pillar of Peoples Democratic party (PDP) in Tureta local Government area, his home town and Sokoto state as a whole.
He was a former member of the Sokoto state House of Assembly, a one term member of the house of representatives and former state chairman of the PDP.
Late Tureta has been a commissioner since 2007 during the administration of former Governor senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko.
He served as Commissioner for Education, Ministry of Water resources, Ministry for Local Government and Ministry of Agriculture respectively where he died in active service.
Late Tureta was a diabetic patient, the sickness he has been fighting with for over 6 years, late Tureta died as a political hero who has been winning elections in Sokoto state.
The former Commissioner popularly known as head boy by his colleagues during his school days is a philanthropist who always gives out resources at his disposal for the upkeep of the less privilege and the downtrodden.
The late honourable commissioner Muhammadu Arzika Tureta died yesterday around 11pm at the age of 62 years and left behind two wives, seven children and many relations may his soul rest in peace.
Among those who attended his funeral rites held in Tureta town, include the Sokoto state Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, his Deputy, Mannir Muhammad Daniya, members of the state executive council, friends of the decease and teeming people of Tureta local Government area.
