Sokoto State Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal said his administration would provide potable drinking water to 1000 rural communities in the state before the end of its tenure.
The Governor made the remarks at the formal commissioning of the Badon – Kasarawa water project constructed in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and the World Bank.
He said the water project came in to being under the Third National Urban Water Sector Reform project.
The water project which has a tank storage capacity of 450000 gallons of water per day will serve communities in Bado housing estate, Badon Barade, Badon hanya and Bado Eka all in the outskirt of the state Metropolis.
The Governor appealed to the benefitting communities to safe guard the project against vandals, as according to him the water project belongs to them.
He said the state government is up and doing in ensuring that, it provides portable water to all nooks and crannies of the state and it would not stop to that until all is achieved.
It could be recalled that the state government in is carrying out total rehabilitation and overhauling of Sokoto water scheme to conform with best practice.
Already the state government has constructed a befitting water scheme in all the 23 LGAs in the state aimed at providing water for before the end of tenure of the present administration.
