Ahmed Yahaya – Joe

That the labour leadership in Kaduna has now decided to seek divine intervention about the recent sack of over 4000 LG workers in Kaduna State implies conceeding defeat.

Enfant terrible is a French expression, traditionally referring to a child who is terrifyingly candid. I do not subscribe to the politics of division by my governor within our state. I however must admit he nailed it by asserting he was not elected to pay salaries lest we forget in September 2019, Kaduna State Government became the first government in the country to pay the new minimum wage and consequential adjustments.

Nasiru’s story while true is incomplete.

Also, true;

“In the last six months, personnel costs have accounted for between 84.97% and 96.63% of FAAC transfers received by the Kaduna State Government. In March 2021, Kaduna State had only N321m left after settling personnel costs….it got N4.819 billion from FAAC and paid out N4.498 billion, representing 93% of the money received,”

Agreed;

 “The public service of the state with less than 100,000 employees (and their families) cannot be consuming more than 90% of government resources, with little left to positively impact the lives of the more than nine million that are not political appointees or civil servants”

For His Excellency’s story to be complete, his “security vote” has to be audited and made public. Of course, that can’t happen and wouldn’t happen due to “security reasons”.

The question of how the jet setting and extravagant lifestyles of Nigerian governors is actually paid for therefore remains and will continue to be subject to widespread speculation!
