Banditry Attack: Kebbi Gov’t Vows to Protect Residents

Kebbi State Government has vowed to take urgent measures to ensure adequate protection of all law-abiding residents in the state.

Bagudu spoke at Magaba community in Danko Wasagu Local Government area of the state where some innocent persons and adjoining villages as well as some security personnel were killed by the armed bandits.

 The Govenor said his administration will leave no stone unturned in ensuring safety of all residents and citizens in the state. “This, we shall do, in collaboration with the security agencies, traditional rulers and all the key stakeholders.”

According to the Governor, the state government will facilitate the urgent deployment of more policemen, to further guarantee the safety of lives and properties of the people.

“This is to enable the people urgently restart their lives and peacefully conduct all their farming and other socioeconomic activities.

Bagudu noted that, the state government had not outrightly banned the activities of the self volunteer group (Yan Sakai), because,” it is a good system, though infiltrated by some unpatriotic and heinous bad eggs.

“He therefore urged them to collectively work, dialogue, be tolerant with each other and be peaceful and law abiding, “In other to collectively fight the common enemies, (bandits).

Bagudu futher warned the people against rumour mongering and always be their brothers’ keepers.

He announced that the Kebbi State Government would send relief assistance to the affected victims.

Governor Bagudu also made a stop over at Ribah General hospital to sympathise with two victims who sustained injury during the attacks.

At Magaba village, the governor with his entourage listened to different narrations from some eyewitness and residents who recounted their ordeal from the attackers.

According to Liman Abdullahi Baba, Aminu Dadu, PRO of the Farmers association of the area, Adamu Magaji, Pastor Emmanuel Gavo who recounted their ordeal, explained how the attackers on motorcycles killed 6 people at Gulumbo, 5 at Magaba and 3 at Matseri villages.

They said the attackers also raided phone shops and carted away handsets, and livestock among other things.

The residents while thanking the governor for the visit, they begged for deployment of more security personnel to the area.

Those on the entourage who accompanied the governor on the visit while calling for calm, admonished the residents to keep faith in God as authorities take measures to deal with the situation.

Among those who accompanied the governor were Rtd, General Muhammadu Magoro, Senator Bala Ibn Na Allah, Senator representing Kebbi South, Kabiru Tukura, House of Representatives member representing Zuru, Fakai, Danko Wasagu/Sakaba Federal Constituency, Acting Head of Service, Alhaji Sufyanu Bena, Special Adviser on Security, Rtd Garba Rabiu Kamba, Local Government Chairmen of Zuru, Danko Wasagu and Fakai, traditional leaders and politicians.

Meanwhile Govenor Atiku Bagudu, had since paid a condolence visit to 20 PMF squadron Ikeja, Lagos over the death of four PMF personnel who were killed during the attack by the bandits in Danko Wasagu Local Government of Kebbi State.
