Sultan Charges Politicians to Fear God in Discharging Responsibilities

The Sultan of Sokoto ​ Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, has called on​ all the elected public office-holders to have fear of God when discharging their responsibilities to the people.

Sultan made the call at the 5th anniversary of the Federal Government’s Anchor Borrowers’ Programme (ABP) in Zauro, Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, he urged the leaders to abide by their oath of office.

The royal father expressed satisfaction with the achievement of the President Muhammadu Buhari in the agriculture sector.

In his words:​ “If the leaders are doing what they are supposed to do to the masses, people will not be suffering they will enjoy the government.” Agriculture is a great way of reducing poverty and unemployment in the society, he added.

Earlier, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele, thanked Buhari for making ABP a reality. He disclosed that there were over 200,000 metric tonnes of rice, which will be sold to approved 18 rice millers across the country, adding that the event would also be marked in the other states with similar gestures.

Emefiele explained that Nigeria could be rice-sufficient, he therefore urged other stakeholders to contribute their quota to sustain the agriculture policy.

He also disclosed that 50 billion naira have been approved by President Muhammad Buhari for the second phase of the ABP.

In his address, Kebbi State Governor​ noted that, CBN, under Governor, Godwin Emefiele, has taken the risk showed commitment and pumped more money to small scale farmers, a situation that was never seen in Nigeria before,

According to Bagudu, that was a great feat achievement under President Muhammadu Buhari, saying, “with the right support and policies, Nigerian farmers can favourably compete with their colleagues from across the world.”

He acknowledged the support of all the stakeholders and noted that, Nigerian farmers were now producing more healthier and hygienic rice.

However, the Beninoise Foreign Minister, who led a high-powered delegation of four other Ministers, Beninoise Ambassador to Nigeria and a Senator, said that, Nigeria and Benin Republics were one and the same, he said

“Anything that destroys Nigeria, destroys Benin Republic.” Our President has also promised to ban any product that is banned by Nigeria,” he added.

Speaking earlier, the National President of the Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN), Alhaji Aminu Goronyo,​ expressed happiness the Almighty Allah has given Nigeria a visionary leader, who is very sincere and committed.
