Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN), Kano Chapter has reiterated its commitment to support Kabuga Primary Health Center (PHC) and the Community on Capacity building, Consultations and donation of instruments.
Prof Hadiza Galadanchi, founder and pioneer President, MWAN made the disclosure during a preliminary assessment of its adopted PHC in Kabuga.
She commended staff of the PHC for observing certain procedures during the general inspection.
The Prof gave health talks on cervical cancer screening and awareness, Breast Self Examination, Neonatal Tetanus, Family Planning and Nutrition.
According to Prof, Cervical cancer still remains a major public health concern, accounting for about 300,000 deaths per year.
She said aggressive cervical cancer screening has evidently been linked to reduced incidence and mortality.
“This is the reason why MWAN Kano has embarked on Free Cervical Cancer awareness and screening in the adopted health facility and Kano in General,” she said.
Recently, MWAN in collaboration with Society of Obstetrician and Gynaecologist of Nigeria (SOGON) and Gynaecological Oncology Society of Nigeria (GOSON) screened 430 women in Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital (MMSH), Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) and Kabuga PHC.
