Ahead of the 27th March Sokoto State Local Government Elections, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic party (PDP), Alhaji Kasimu Umarun Kwabo, has advised the party to present credible candidates for improved quality of governance at the grassroot.
He also urged leadership of the PDP to conduct a free, fair and acceptable party primaries that will be acceptable to all with a view to produce unbeatable candidates at the polls in all the 23 local government areas of the state.
Umarun-Kwabo, the chieftain of the PDP in Sokoto North Local Government Area, gave the task while speaking to pressmen in Sokoto.
He said, in his opinion people like Umar Ahamed the former DG would be good material considering his track record of service.
He implored the aspirants to play politics of friendship that will promote democracy in the state.
He also enjoined the PDP aspirants to have in mind that politics is a game of understanding and not a do-or-die affair.
“Therefore, we are confident that with the current global development of political system, all those aspiring for any office are people of good character who wish the best for the society.
“As such, candidates should ensure a political system which will fit our society by avoiding any acts that will distract the peace of our people.
“Moreover, we have to keep in mind that leadership is not by force, it is only God who gives leadership, as such we should seek our destiny from God and support whoever emerge,” he appealed.
The chieftain further called on the people of the state to end politics of vote buying and ensure they vote the best leaders that will address their respective challenges.
Besides, he urged PDP delegates to elect best candidates who possess reputable track records and are ready to bring more development to the state.
