BHCPF Registers Over 120,000 Less Privilege in Jigawa

Over 120,000 less privilege persons were captured in to Federal Government Health Insurance Scheme known as Basic Healthcare Provisional Fund in Jigawa state.

The Executive Secretary, Jigawa State Health Insurance Scheme, Dr Nura Ibrahim revealed this while speaking at a stakeholder meeting for the implementation of Basic Healthcare Provisional Fund in state held at Ahmadu Bello Hall Dutse.

He said 45,760 are expected to be in the first batch of the program implementation as all their necessary documentation been completed.

Dr Nura added that, the program would help in making basic primary healthcare services accessible and affordable to all Nigerian in respect of their social and economic status or geographical location.

In his remarks, the Executive Secretary, State Primary Healthcare Board, Dr Kabiru Ibrahim revealed that, 239 Health facilities were accredited by federal government for the implementation across the 27 local government area of the state.

Dr Kabiru noted that, the state government has approved for the release of N143.7 million for the renovation of the accredited facilities out of N500 million released to the state by federal government for the program.

He however revealed that, there are still more chance for the disqualified facilities to work hard in collaboration with local government chairman to meet up with criteria for the accreditation.

The meeting urged the Insurance managers to not allowed political intemperance to temper with the implementation guideline.

The stakeholders had also called for constant monitoring and evaluation of the program to checkmate any attempt to mismanage the allocated funds.
