A Kano based industrialist Alh. Tajuddeen Aminu Dantata has advocated for effective community participation in reforming the precarious condition of primary education in northern Nigeria.
He made this appeal while delivering a speech as a special guest of honour at the 50th anniversary of the Bayero University Staff Primary School held in Kano on Tuesday.
Tajuddeen Dantata who is an alumnus of the school, said primary education is the foundation for human capital development, as such, no society should allow its basic education sub-sector to suffer.
“I am shocked to see the level of dilapidation of our primary school, BUK staff school, which used to be among the best schools in Nigeria, history will not vindicate us as old pupils of this noble school if we allow it to remain in this bad condition”
“I am therefore, urging all us to make a serious commitment in supporting this primary school that we all attended to restore its lost glory, as alma-mater, we are the most strategic stakeholders who can give an emergency rescue to the school for immediate renovation to ensure conducive teaching and learning atmosphere.”
