MHWUN Commends Sultan for Polio Free Status

The Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria (MHWUN) has said that the success recorded in the area of health care delivery and eradication of poliomyelitis in Sokoto state was as a result of tremendous support by Sultan and President Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in Nigeria Alhaji Dr Muhammad Saad Abubakar III

The State Chairman of in Sokoto, Comrade Abdullah Aliyu (Jungle) made the assertion during the Unions Northwest zonal meeting held in Sokoto.

He said the support and cooperation health workers received from the Sultan and other traditional institutions served as important catalyst in the overall success of the vaccination campaign in Sokoto state.

He said the quantum support of Sokoto State Government in the healthcare sector helped a great deal in the maintenance of state’s polio free status.

He explained that the union had conducted a number of seminars and workshops for improved service delivery and enhanced productivity among Heath workers in the state.

According to him, members of the Medical and Health Workers have assisted Sokoto State Government in its fight against the spread of Coronavirus through donations of face Masks, sanitizers and other personal protective equipment distributed to heath facilities in the state.

Comrade Abdullahi commended Sokoto State government for its plan to recruit of over 2000 middle cadre health workers to man rural health facilties in the state
