The Executive Director, Socio- Economic Research and Development Centre (SERDEC) Mr. Abdulkareem Tijani has congratulated the Kogi State Government on scoring 100 per cent in the 2019 Annual Performance Assessment (APA) of states under the Fiscal Transparency, Accountability and Sustainability (SFTAS) programme.
Mr. Tijani while reacting to the State’s performance in the 2019 Annual performance Assessment (APA) of states under the Accountability and Sustainability (SFTAS) Program noted that however commendable it is important that the state should have a holistic and sustainable transparency approach in all programmes that requires the utilization of public funds.
He commended Governor Yahaya Bello for the proactive step taken so far in deepening Fiscal Transparency in Kogi State and urged the state government to adopt the Open Government Partnership (OGP) principle which articulates a global best practice for accountability in the use of public funds and transparency in public finance management and governance.
He encourages Governor Bello to leave behind a legacy on building an effective fiscal regime reform, deepen the fight against corruption through strengthening state institutions and due processes, supporting an effective legislative oversight, deepening citizen participation in governance and holding to account all public officials indicted in the Kogi State 2016 Auditor General Report.
