The Emir of Gaya Alh Ibrahim Abdulkadir has assured full support to Kano state Independent Electoral commission (KANSIEC) towards conducting hitches free polls.
A statement signed by KANSIEC Public Relations Officer, Dahiru Lawan Kofar Wambai said the representative of the Emir of Gaya, Makaman Gaya and district head of Albasu, AIG Bashir Abdullahi Albasu (rtd), made the assertion when he received management of KANSIEC who were at his palace on a courtesy visit after conducting a one-day sensitization exercise for leaders of political parties in local governments within the emirate preparatory to January 16th 2021 polls.
The Emir maintained that the emirate will mandate village and ward heads to mobilize their people on the need to be peaceful and conduct the electoral process according to the stipulated guidelines expressing optimism on the leadership of the commission to conduct credible election in the state.
KANSIEC chairman, Professor Garba Ibrahim Sheka said they were at the Emir’s palace to seek for his royal blessing and intimate him on the forthcoming local governments election.
According to the statement, KANSIEC Commissioner-in-Charge of political parties’ affairs, Alh Ismaila RiminGado said KANSIEC resolves to involve parties’ executives at the grassroots and keep them informed on the local government electoral process to achieve the desired goals.
In his address before the questions and answers session, the chairman of KANSIEC professor Garba Ibrahim Sheka said the commission plan to tour the five Emirates and have an interactive session with politicians at local level and hear their views for a hitch free election.
Professor Sheka appreciated the level of understanding and cooperation of Gaya emirate and its people and prayed the tempo is sustained.
On behalf of nine local governments in the emirate, the Gaya local government Chairman, Alh Ahamad T Abdullahi thanked KANSIEC for organizing the educative session and pledged their support in that direction.
