Kano State House of Assembly (KHoA) has nullified the suspension of Kumbotso Local Government Council Chairman, Alhaji Kabiru Ado Panshekara with a suspension letter issued to the council members that carried out the act.
A letter dated 02nd October, 2020 written to Kumbotso Local Government Council Chairman, Alhaji Kabiru Ado Panshekara by the Secretary, Kano House of Assembly Committee on Local Government Council Affairs, Lawan Yusuf Sagagi, suspended the seven council members for violating constitutional provision as contained in the Kano State Government Law, 2006 section 55(1) and insubordination to the state assembly.
Those suspended members are Yusuf Ibrahim Kumbotso, Aminu Sani Panshekara, Najiyu Magaji Liman Danbare, Lawan Umar Mariri, Hamza Abdulkarim, Aminu Haruna and Magaji Alasan.
The House of Assembly letter states that the suspension of the Council members takes effect from October, 2nd to January, 2nd, 2021.
Recall that stallion times reported the suspension the Council’s Chairman Alh. Kabiru Ado Panshekara for 14 months over an alleged embezzlement of the council’s funds to the tune of N177million.
The councillors passed vote of confidence on the council’s vice chairman Alh. Sagir AbdulKadir Panshekara to take over the leadership of the council pending the conclusion of the investigation against the embattled chairman.
Seven out of eight council members of the Local Government Area suspended the Chairman for 14 months, a duration that coincides with the expiration of his tenure, saying the suspension is effective 31st October 2020.
