The Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Agunbiade Oluyemi Lasore psc (+) has observed with dismay the rate at which passengers being convey on motorcycles are dying as a result of accident.
This was contained in a press release signed by DSP Nafi’u Abubakar, Kebbi State Command Police Public Relation Officer.
According to the statement, CP Lasore implored all motorcycle riders to always admonish their passengers on how to arrange their clothes before embarking on motorcycles.
He also advised the peace-loving people of Kebbi State to desist from allowing their veil, garment or any other fabric they wear from loosening while on motorcycles to prevent the fabric from hooking on motorcycle wheel which could lead to accident.
CP Lasore, therefore calls on all the motor vehicles and motorcycles drivers/riders to take all necessary precaution by maintaining the requisite 20 meters breaking distance.
He cited a case of a man who conveyed his two wives and his child along Zauro-Birnin Kebbi road on Sunday, 9th August, 2020, while on transit, their flying garment hooked into the wheel of the motorcycle as a result of which they fell down and an oncoming cater motor vehicle ran over them, killing three of them.
The statement concluded with an advice to all motorcycle riders to convey only one passenger for them to be able to effectively control the handles of their motorcycles. The State Commissioner of Police hoped that the good people of Kebbi State are going to adhere to these warnings as prevention is better than cure.
