Kebbi State Governor, Atiku Bagudu, has warned against the diversion of the assorted food items donated to over 38,000 households by the Federal Government, under the Coalition Against Coronavirus Disease (CACOVID).
Bagudu, gave the warning, while addressing newsmen in Birnin Kebbi, through the Secretary to the State Government, Babale Umar Yauri.
According to him, he said the invaluable food items were meant to alleviate the suffering of the beneficiaries, and to cushion the effect of the covid-19 pandemic.
He explained further that, to ensure all the intended vulnerable families get the shares of the food items as scheduled, over forty Community Based Organizations (CBOs) as well as Non- Governmental Organizations (NGOs) will be involved in the distribution of the palliatives across the 21 local government areas of the state.
“While taking steps to ensure the efficient distribution of the items, the governor hereby warns the beneficiaries against selling the palliatives”.
Adding that any official found wanting in the discharge of his duty will be equally sanctioned.
