The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has described the death of former Group Managing Director (GMD) of Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Mallam Maikanti Kachalla Baru as a great lost not only to Nigeria but to the whole of African continent.
This was contained in a condolence message issued by Kano state chapter Chairman of IPMAN Alhaji Bashir Ahmad Danmallam. According to him, the association received the news of the death of penultimate GMD, who died after a brief illness in Abuja with total submission to the will of God. Danmalam described late Baru as a consummate technocrat who served the NNPC and the country with dedication, and fear of God, stressing that his absence would be greatly missed not only by his family, but the NNPC and Nigeria as a whole.
“Late Baru has contributed a lot in the development of the oil sector, indeed his selfless service to Nigeria as a country will forever remain a legacy worth emulating by all. The association therefore wishes to commiserate with late Baru’s family, the management staff and the present GMD of NNPC Mallam Mele Kyari over the demise of Late Maikanti Baru,” it stated.
Ahaji bashir Danmallam further prayed for almighty Allah’s forgives on the soul of late Baru and also prayed to Allah to grant all those concerned the fortitude to bear the irreparable lost.
